Anneli Ahola
Anneli has a lifelong passion for skating and has been a member of her previous club for twelve years. Four of these were spent coaching and volunteering coaching for the club. After her high school graduation in 2023, she took a short break from skating and coaching to focus on school. Anneli is currently pursuing her degree in social work at NMU. During her time skating, she was primarily a test-focused skater, making it through her Gold level skating skills, Pre-Juvenile Freeskate, and is working on her last Pre-Gold Ice Dance. She also specializes in power and edge control training.

LTS/USFS compliant coach, has been coaching with the learn to skate program for the past 14 years. This past winter term was co-director of the Learn to skate program and for this current year is the Learn to Skate Director. She was a part of the MSHS figure skating team for 4 years, including helping the team achieve state championships in 2007 and 2009, also an individual state champion in artistic in 2010. She is employed by NMU, and has a bachelor’s degree in applied workplace leadership and business administration. She has passed Pre-Preliminary Free Skate and Preliminary Free Skate along with, Pre-Preliminary Moves in The Field and Preliminary Moves in The Field.

Mari has taught Learn to Skate classes for the past three years. She’s skated for 21 years,
competitively for 10. She skated with the MSHS Figure Skating Team from 2017 - 2020, helping
the team win two state championships in 2017 and 2018, and was the team captain for the 2019
- 2020 competitive year. She also skated with the NMU team from 2021 - 2025 as the Secretary
every year. She has passed Pre-Bronze Solo, Pre-Silver Skating Skills, Bronze Pattern Dance,

Danielle was a competitive and test focused skater for over 20 years representing Marquette Figure Skating Club and Northern Michigan University. Recently returning to coaching, Danielle has over 15 years coaching experience and can coach through Pre-silver singles, Pre-gold skating skills, Gold Dance, and hockey skating skills (certified USA Hockey Level 1). Danielle is also a Michigan certified 6-12 educator with 13 years of experience teaching for Marquette Area Public Schools. Danielle is the head coach of the Marquette Senior High School figure skating team. CPR and AED certified.

Emily has a lifelong love of skating and finds great joy on the ice. With over 15 years of coaching experience, she has guided skaters at competitions and testing sessions across the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin.
This will be her third season with MFSC, and she is often joined at the rink by her canine sidekick Frank.
Emily has served as Club Co-Director and Ice Show Co-Director at her previous skating clubs. She is LTS/USFS coach-compliant and CPR/AED certified.

Leah has been skating for eleven years. She is from Merrill, Wisconsin and is attending Northern Michigan University as a freshman studying graphic design. Back in Wisconsin, she coached Learn To Skate for 6 years and during her senior year of high school, coached private lessons as a junior coach. She is 3x USFS gold medalist, having passed her gold skating skills, ice dance, and solo free dance. She has competed in the Excel Series for the past three seasons and qualified for the Excel National Festival in 2025. Leah is incredibly passionate about sharing her love for figure skating, helping skaters reach their goals, and overall fostering their love for the sport.

Linnea has been a competitive and test focused figure skater for 15 years. Prior coaching experience teaching LTS & private lessons, and was the L’Anse High School Figure Skating Coach for 9 years. While in college she was a member of the NMU Figure Skating Team and NMU Synchronized Skating Team and co-coached the synchro team after graduation. She has completed her Pre-Gold Dances, and has passed her Bronze Singles, and Pre-Silver Skating Skills. Linnea has been the MFSC Ice Show Director, Board Member and a LTS Instructor since 2022. She is a USFS compliant coach. She hopes her skaters will foster a lifelong love for figure skating, like she does.

She won the State Championship title in 2018, along with helping the team win a state title the same year. She was the Vice President of the NMU Figure Skating Team from 2021 to 2025 and graduated with a Business Management degree in May 2025. She is pursuing an MBA this fall. Jenna was a competitive figure skater for over 20 years representing the Marquette Figure Skating club & Northern Michigan University She is a USFSA triple Gold Medalist - having passed her Gold singles freestyle, skating skills, and dances. Jenna has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science, and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science. Jenna is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach. Jenna also has years of experience with both on and off ice choreography and dance.

Is a current USFS compliant coach/choreographer, certified CPR/AED and has coached with the Marquette Figure Skating Club since 1985. Her duties with the MFSC have included Learn to Skate Director, Summer School on Ice Coordinator, Ice Show Co-Director, On and Off Ice Choreographer. She has participated in MFSC clinics and presentations alongside with World and Olympic coaches. Shirra has been invited as a guest coach to teach at Chilled Ponds -Chesapeake VA, Escanaba Area FSC, Escanaba MI, Timberline FSC- Wausau WI, and Michigan Tech University, Houghton MI. She is a coach of Regional/Sectional competitors, High School State Individual Champions, and National Showcase Champions. Shirra has coached numerous students through the USFS Gold level in the disciplines of skating skills, ice dance, and singles. In addition to coaching, Shirra is an authorized dealer of name brand skating equipment with Nan-Cees Skatique and can service skates with precision skate blade sharpening.
