Learn to Skate - Basic Skills Program
Skating is one of the world’s greatest sports! Skating in Basic Skills is fun, challenging and rewarding, regardless of age. Skating is a sport that can last a lifetime! Whether your goal is to aim for the Olympics, learn to skate backward, improve your overall health and fitness, impress your friends, or just to have fun on the ice, you can find it with the Basic Skills Program.
The Marquette Figure Skating Club (MFSC) has designed their program to provide a simple but progressive method of small group instruction (3-5 Skaters) for the basic skills of ice skating. MFSC participates in U.S. Figure Skating (USFS) Learn to Skate program, the governing body of figure skating in the United States.
MFSC offers four terms on Tuesday & Thursday evening, and Monday morning. The objective is to teach correct technique in the basic skating elements, allowing the skater to progress to Figure Skating or Hockey. Ages 3 to Adult are eligible. A skater may have a choice of 1 or 2 sessions of lessons. Two nights are recommended for optimal progress. All classes are held at Marquette’s Lakeview Arena and are taught by Professional Skaters Association, “Excellence on Ice” skating instructors.
